The Black Ceramic Edition of the Carrera Heuer-01 is also the very first ceramic watch for men ever created by TAG Heuer. The watch is lightweight, and yet highly resilient to environmental shocks. It is practically indestructible and almost completely scratch-resistant. The case, based on the familiar Carrera Heuer-01 design measures 45mm in diameter, and is composed of 12 individual parts. Most of the components visible from the outside are made from ceramic, while the inner box and the case-back are made from stainless steel.
The case
The case accommodates the fully skeletonized blackened dial, which is highlighted with grey luminescent material. This sporty yet technical timepiece is blackened to the tiniest detail. For example, the markings on the bezel are painted in a muted shade of silver, to create less contrast and yet remain fairly visible.
Underneath the sapphire-crystal case-back beats TAG Heuer’s proprietary movement, Calibre Heuer-01, revealing a blackened oscillating weight, a red column wheel, and Côtes de Genève finishing on the main bridge. The movement features a column-wheel chronograph mechanis, automatic winding, and 50 hours of power reserve.
